Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day. This is a common misconception. It is actually a celebration based on the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. On this day, the Mexican Army successfully defeated the French Army in Puebla, Mexico. This was not a large or strategic win, but it did succeed in lifting the spirits of the Mexican resistance and gaining an alliance with the Americans.
We will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by feasting on our version of Mexican dinner and drinks! Margaritas for everyone!
