Happy National Gardening Day!
This is really a day anyone can get into! Don't have a yard for a garden? Grab a pot, place it in front of your south-facing window. Grow Basel, cilantro or even mixed greens. Gardening is not just for those who have a large yard.
I love gardening and have grown my own garden year after year and learned a lot in the process. People probably don't associate Alaska with gardening, but we have a great, yet short, growing season here. Our many hours of extra sunlight provide some amazing growing conditions. My current list of veg and fruit I grow is: Kale, Lettuce, Spinach, Broccoli, Green Peas, Rhubarb, Raspberries, Mint, Dill, Cilantro, Kohlrabi, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Zucchini, Blueberries, Carrots and Radishes. Every year, I try to grow something new.

It is so satisfying to have a big salad where you grew everything yourself!

So, get out there and start yourself a garden - even if it's only in a pot. It's fun, rewarding, healthy and DELICIOUS!
